Reasons That Can Cause a VAC BAN in CS2
The anti-cheat ecosystem operates under the same core principles in CS:GO and CS2. Even with the engine updates, you must follow the exact same security precautions.
To know the exact reason for your BAN, launch CS2 (or CS:GO) and hover your mouse cursor over the RED banner at the top that indicates the ban. A tooltip will appear displaying the specific cause—for example: MINORLY DISRUPTIVE, MAJORLY DISRUPTIVE, ACCOUNT UNTRUSTED, SHARED PHONE NUMBER / LINKED ACCOUNT, and OTHERS.
- Read more details [HERE about OVERWATCH BANS]
- Read [HERE about TRUST FACTOR], which can also lead to an account flag or ban if you previously had a banned account on the same PC.
- Using any cheat in "Rage" mode triggers automated detection by VACnet.
- Using the same phone number or email address linked to another banned account—all associated accounts sharing that phone number at the time of the infraction will receive a BAN (hover over the red VAC banner in-game to see if it states shared phone number).
- Using third-party Skin or Inventory Changers (other than the secure one built into Goowned).
- Using public free cheats (or low-tier pasted paid cheats).
- Using unreliable free websites or programs for hour boosting, rank boosting, or achievement unlocking.
- Attempting to inject programs or DLLs using public third-party injectors.
- Using Bunny Hop scripts or Silent Aim is a primary cause for VACnet and/or Overwatch bans. Our software itself is undetected, but reckless playstyles and impossible movement/angles are not.
- Modifying or using programs that alter core CS2 or Steam game files.
Keep in mind that VAC BANs are intentionally delayed. An infraction from the list above may take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to actually apply the ban to your profile.
If you are a new Goowned user and received a VAC BAN shortly after starting, it is almost certainly caused by a previously used public cheat, a linked phone number, or an Overwatch conviction... NOT our software.
Another Critical Point to Keep in Mind
If you have received bans on previous accounts on your PC, you MUST format Windows before playing on a new account, as delayed bans and residual traces can flag new accounts on the same system.
